I will start from afar, but I recommend reading everything.
Recently, I have often been asked — does Etuners do anything in terms of developing firmware for the third generation EA888?
I will answer briefly — it’s better for my colleagues, who have free resources for this project, to tackle the MkIII. We are currently busy with other research projects that are no less important for you than the assault on the new generation of internal combustion engines.
Now, let me briefly tell you what we are currently working on:
1. Development of our own equipment for flashing Opel Astra / Corsa J (already in the final testing stage). We will be able to sell clients real low-cost devices for flashing and do everything extremely quickly and reliably. No one else in the market has this. The price of such equipment will be around 100 euros or even less, and we get at least an increase of up to 160 hp on 95 octane gasoline for 1.4 and up to 200 hp for 1.6 (and up to 210 on RON98).
2. Hacking TC1797 blocks for THP200 engines — no one in the market can flash these engines without disassembling the block (just like all the new THP156, which we hacked first). The software for THP156 has been operational for a long time (see the article: www.drive2.ru/l/3735957/), and for THP200 it is in the testing stage (the next round of tests will be on July 19).
3. Hacking Haldex I and II control units. This is the most complex of our current developments… it takes a lot of time, but for end users it will be cheaper and more reliable than external "tricks" for Haldex.
I think it’s clear from this list that we have a sea of work and we are not "sitting idle" ))) Just the MkIII is not a priority for us right now — many companies are already working on it, and there is no point in competing with them in this matter.
Therefore, I would like us at Etuners to do exactly what we do better than others — make custom cars, do big turbo, and also work on those cars that have "overboost", "slipping", "waves during acceleration", "high consumption after tuning", "coils burning every month", "error popping up" and so on…
I think you all know very well what problems I am talking about and understand that there are always 5-10% of clients for whom "canned solutions" do not work under any circumstances. It is precisely these people that we help first and foremost (although 90% of our income still comes from Stage1 for the most ordinary cars). This is what we like, what drives us forward — and what makes clients smile when the work is done.
People have less and less money for new cars, let’s face reality — the automotive market is simply dead and even loans do not help sell cars. I know this because as a specialist not only in firmware but also in hardware, I constantly work with dealers and directly with the sales department.
So, for now, there is a mass of clients in the market for the first and second generation EA888, who for various reasons "do not go" — and it is precisely for them that good, quality custom chip tuning is needed, which we practically do not have; that is what we need to focus on.
There is still so much I want to tell, but I want to respect your time.
So if you have any suggestions for new topics — let me know.
Personally, I see at least the topic of detonation, rollbacks, forged pistons, and sadly non-performing cars that everyone tries to keep quiet about.
Well, and thank you if you read to the end and I am very glad if you understand me!
P.S.
By the way, I have a Skoda Octavia Mk III with 1.8 TSI 180hp in my family, so as soon as I have time — I will also work on it )))))
Believe me, nothing will go into clients' hands without real long-term tests!
